Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA)

The shared workforce division of Reynolds and Brightpoint community colleges is an intermediary that coordinates and leads the interconnected workforce system with industry leaders, including Civica Rx, Phlow Corp., and Haleon. It is focused on technician-level jobs in the APM and biotechnology sectors.

Brightpoint Community College

Delivers short-term industry credential and certificate programs designed in consultation with regional pharmaceutical manufacturers with pathways to university-level Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Engineering degree programs. 

J. Sargent Reynolds Community College

A first-of-its-kind biotechnology training lab is now part of the recently launched Associate of Science, Biotechnology Laboratory Technician program.

VCU-VSU Pharmaceutical Engineering Pathways Program

A pharmaceutical manufacturing curriculum, coupled with a joint degree program, was established to provide an academic pathway from Virginia State University (VSU) to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in order to advance the region’s APM and R&D cluster.

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)

VCU is a top-rated, R1 research university that offers the nation’s first Pharmaceutical Engineering doctoral program — an interdisciplinary curriculum combining engineering, nanoscience, and pharmaceutical sciences with strong industry connections. 

Virginia State University (VSU)

One of the nation’s first HBCUs with summer STEM programming for 9th-12th graders, biology and chemistry degree programs, and formal pathways to give students access to advanced degrees.
